Blogmas Day #7 The Ten Thousand Doors of January Review

I absolutely adored this book. I listened to it on Audible and now I need to buy a physical copy for my bookshelf. January Scaller is such a great character. We see her grow up from an adventurous, rowdy child, to an “obedient” child/young adult, to a strong, determined and adventurous woman. She doesn’t really fit in anywhere and is always being looked at strangely for the color of her skin. When she finds the first door in a field and a journal I knew this was going to get interesting and it surely was. Mr. Locke tells her that the door she found is isn’t real and not to lie to him but later find out that he and his society know all about the doors. The second half of the book was far better than the first in my opinion but that’s also when the majority of the action happens. The first half is still good, but it’s more learning and characters, the world, and “stories” from the journal.

There’s so many things I want to talk about within the book but doing so would spoil so much of the fun of it for those who haven’t read it yet. Everyone please read this so we can talk about it!

I still find it hard to believe that this was Harrow’s debut novel. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.
